Which type of dog harness works for your dog?
The type of dog harness that works for your dog is decided by where the lead clips on and how the straps sit around the shoulders. A back clip sits between the shoulder blades and is the most comfortable option for a dog who already walks nicely, but it gives you no steering at all: a dog leaning into it simply pulls you along, the way a sled dog is meant to.

What a dog harness will not fix?
A dog harness will not stop your dog pulling on its own, and any harness sold on that promise is overselling itself. What a front clip does is change the direction of the force so pulling stops working as well as it used to, which buys you the room to teach a loose lead.
Pair it with steady stop and wait training and you will see the difference within a few weeks. Use it without the training and you have a more comfortable dog pulling just as hard.
