How Do Location Tracking and Range Work?

The tracker works by sending out Bluetooth signals. It uses the massive, global Apple 'Find My' network. This network consists of millions of iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers worldwide.

What happens if I'm out of range of the tracker? As soon as your pet (with the tracker) comes within Bluetooth range of any Apple device that is active in the 'Find My' network, that Apple device picks up the tracker's signal.

This detected location (completely anonymous and encrypted) is then forwarded to Apple iCloud servers. You can then see your pet's most recent, accurate location on the map in your own 'Find My' app.

Range: There is no distance limit to where you can see your pet on the map, as long as the tracker regularly comes near an Apple device. This means it is a globally covering system, depending on the density of Apple users in a given area. In urban and populated areas, coverage is often very good.

"Real-time" Location Tracking: The frequency of updates depends on how often the tracker comes within range of an Apple device. In densely populated areas, this can be very frequent, making it feel "real-time."
